Obituary for Salvatore Capasso

Salvatore Capasso, 98, of Pocono Lake, passed away Friday, December 16, at home.

He was the loving husband of Elsie P. (Hall) Capasso. They celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary in July. Salvatore met Elsie for the first time while they were working and building Lionel Trains. They had been with each other ever since, and spent many wonderful years together.

Born in Newark, NJ, he was the son of the late Giuseppe Capasso and the late Josephine (Petaio) Capasso.

Salvatore was a truck driver for Otis Elevators in Newark, NJ for seventeen years, Afterwards, he went on to work in Atlantic City for ten years, setting up tables for entertainment. When he was younger, he would always order pizza or chinese food on Saturdays and play cards with his family. Most of all, he was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, great great grandfather, brother, and friend. He will be deeply missed by all his friends and family.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by four sons, George Capasso, Dana Capasso, James Capasso and his wife Nidia, Michael Capasso; three daughters, Linda Benucci and her husband Andrew, Janet Capasso, Cathleen Brana and her husband Joseph; ten grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph, and three sisters, Clara, Lena, and Frances.

A celebration of life will be scheduled on a later date at the convenience of the family.
