Obituary for Sarah A. "Sally" Anthony (Creasy)

Sarah “Sally” (Creasy) Anthony, 77, of Brodheadsville, PA passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, November 10th surrounded by family and her beloved dogs.
Born on July 5, 1941, in Bloomsburg, PA, she was the loving daughter of former Columbia County Commissioner, John “Red” Creasy and Lydia R. (Miller) Creasy. She graduated from the Bloomsburg State College with a degree in Elementary Education and Speech Therapy. It was there that she met her soulmate and future husband, Robert “Bob” Anthony. They shared the ultimate love story and she devoted her entire life to supporting his Naval helicopter and commercial flying career as well as raising her two children, Theresa and Rob. They relocated to Brodheadsville, PA in 1975 from Sparta, NJ after living in New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Florida. She had lived there ever since. She was an avid lover of the Bloomsburg Fair and it was a family tradition to visit the fair each year no matter where she lived.
Sally was the ultimate lover of all creatures and took care of everyone and everything that needed her. Her door was always open for a last-minute visit and something homemade to eat. Her beautiful yard attracted all kinds of animals and she was always feeding the birds, deer and anything else that decided to stop by. She absolutely loved to mow her grass on her John Deere tractor and was happiest working in her yard.
Her entire life was built on giving back to others. She was chosen as the “Woman of the Year” by the Western Pocono Lions club, was a member of the Western Pocono Women’s Club for over 35 years and could be seen each year at the West End Fair Stand along with her fellow members. She was also a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church and was always available to bake or cook at a minute’s notice.
She was recently most visible thru her employment as a bagger at Kinsley’s Shoprite in Brodheadsville for the last 7 years. She was known for giving out free hugs and smiles to anyone that came thru her line or to the breakfast buffet on Sundays. Lovingly known as “Miss Sally” to many, she was always willing to listen and lend a helping hand.
Her family knew her as “mom”, “nanny” and “Aunt Sally” but anyone that came in contact with her could feel how special she was. She left her mark on everyone and everything and was an absolute angel on Earth. While she will never be replaced, she will live on thru all the kind deeds and paying it forward acts done in her memory. She will be smiling and saying “I love you more” to each and every one!
She was predeceased in death by her parents, John C. and Lydia R. Creasy, two brothers, John “Johnnie” Creasy and Dr. James B. Creasy, and her late husband, Lieutenant Robert H. Anthony.
She is survived by a daughter, Theresa Anthony Yocum of Brodheadsville, PA and a son, Robert J. Anthony of Lake Tahoe, CA; two grandchildren, Brad Yocum and Kelsey Yocum both of Brodheadsville, PA ; many nieces, nephews and special friends; and her beloved dogs, Lucy and Mollie.
Public Visitation will be held at the Kresge Funeral home in Brodheadsville, PA on Saturday, November 17th from 9:00am-11:30 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Gilbert, PA with a luncheon open to all in the church hall immediately after mass. Private graveside services will be held the following day at the Rosemont Cemetery in Bloomsburg, PA where she will be laid to rest next to her husband and parents.
