Obituary for Shirley A. Costenbader (Kresge)
Shirley A. Costenbader, 79, of Palmerton, and formerly of Kresgeville, passed away on Saturday, June 11 in St. Luke's Hospital - Carbon Campus in Lehighton.
She was the wife of the late Larry L. Costenbader. They had been married for forty four years at the time of his passing in 2004.
Born in Palmerton,, she was a daughter of the late Albert and Florence (Frable) Kresge.
A 1960 graduate of Chestnuthiill High School, Shirley had worked at various area garment mills for forty-five years before retiring in 2003. She was a member of the I.L.G.W.U. and St. Matthew's United Church of Christ in Kunkletown.
Shirley is survived by wo sons, Brian Costenbader and his wife Carole of Saylorsburg and Lamont Costenbader and his wife Brenda of Selinsgrove; a sister, Barbara Bartholomew of Saylorsburg; a grandson, Benjamin Sizer of Selinsgrove; a brother-in-law, Clair Costenbader and his wife Patsy of Effort; sister-in-law, Laurene Frable and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by brothers-in-law Lee and Roy Costenbader and Roy's wife Linda.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, June 16 from the Kresge Funeral Home, 1763 Route 209 Brodheadsville, with Rev. Suzanne Brooks-Cope officiating. Burial will follow in St. Matthew's Cemetery, Kunkletown. A visitation will be held on Thursday from 12:00 PM until the time of the service.
