Obituary for Steven Edward Sommers

Steven Edward Sommers, 77, of Wilkes-Barre, passed away Sunday, October 29, at VA Medical Center-Wilkes-Barre.

He was the loving husband of the late Dorothy T. Sommers. They spent 38 wonderful years of marriage together before her passing in 2017.

Born in Washington D.C., he was the son of the late Herbert Sommers and the late Irma (Ginsburg) Sommers.

Steve was a plant manager for Redmond Finishing in East Stroudsburg for many years. He was also a Coast Guard veteran. He resided with his wife Dorothy in Hallandale Beach, FL, for thirty years before moving back up to Saylorsburg. He was a jokester with a wonderful sense of humor. Most of all, he was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, brother-in-law, and friend. He will be deeply missed by all his friends and family.

He is survived by two sons, Mark Morgan, Edward Morgan III and his wife Maribelle; two daughters, Denise Riera, Drena Morgan; nine grandchildren, Kyle, Alisa, Victoria, Raul, Steven, Dorothy, Tali, Tiffany, Edward IV; and two sister-in-laws, Janet Kologe, and Irene Huzil.

No services are scheduled at this time. Cremation will take place in H.G. Smith Crematory, Stroudsburg.
