Obituary for Verna Mae Binkley (Kresge)

Verna Mae Binkley, 81, of Pocono Lake, passed away on Sunday, August 21, at Whitestone Care Center. She was the loving wife of the late Charles H. Binkley, Sr. with whom she shared over 50 years of marriage.

Born in Stroudsburg, she was a daughter of the late Arnold and Grace (Snyder) Kresge.

Verna always enjoyed similar hobbies as her husband like fishing and watching old black and white westerns. Most of all. she was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend. She will be deeply missed by all her friends and family.

Verna is survived by her son, Charles H. Binkley, Jr. and his wife, Amy of Effort; two daughters: Bonnie Keiper of Scranton, Connie Wick and her husband Norman of South Carolina; two brothers: Raymond Kresge of Lake Ariel, Charles Kresge and his wife, Judy of East Stroudsburg; two sisters, Betty Perry of Stroudsburg, Barbara Boyer and her husband Ronald of South Carolina; ten grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers Earl Kresge and Tommy Kresge.

A visitation will be held on Friday, September 2nd from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Effort United Methodist Church. Services will follow at 11:00 AM officiated by Reverend Robin Fisher. Burial will follow at Pocono Lake Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Effort United Methodist Church, 178 Merwinsburg Road, Effort 18330.

The Kresge Funeral Home, 1763 Route 209, Brodheadsville, is in charge of the arrangements.
