Verna E. Greenamoyer, 88, of Saylorsburg, passed away Monday, November 8 at home.
She was the loving wife of the late Dale E. Greenamoyer. They celebrated 43 wonderful years of marriage together before his passing in 1996.
Born in East Bangor, she was the daughter of the late Arlington C. Stiles and the late M. Cornelia (Johnson) Stiles.
She was a member of Mt. Eaton Church in Saylorsburg.
Verna graduated from Bangor High School in 1951. She then attended Churchman's Business School. She also received a certificate in Nursing from St. Luke's Nursing School, and later received a certificate in Banking from Northampton Community College. In her early years, she worked for Bell Telephone in Bangor. She then worked as a bookkeeper for Shoemaker Brothers Lumber in Saylorsburg, and later was a loan department specialist for First Valley/Summit Bank in Bangor. She was also a volunteer dispatcher for Blue Ridge Fire Company in the 1960's, and a Girl Scout Troup Leader in the 1970's. Her house was always open to friends of the family and all the children who grew up on Hillside Avenue. She loved them all like they were her own. Everyone knew her simply as Mom. Most of all, she was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, sister-in-law, and friend. She will be deeply missed by all her friends and family.
She is survived by two sons, Brian D. Greenamoyer and his fiancé Edie Parkin of Saylorsburg, David L. Greenamoyer and his wife Connie of Saylorsburg; a daughter, Gail E. Dowling and her husband David of Gilbert; seven grandchildren, Sarah, Jeremiah, Joshua, Caleb, Collin, Neven, Kaila; eight great grandchildren, Matthew, Hobbes, Josephine, Hayden, Mason, Quinn, Reagan, Riley; a sister-in-law, Gloria Kresge of Wind Gap; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Elizabeth L. Shook, and a step grandson, Kyle Giamoni.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, November 20, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM from the Kresge Funeral Home, 1763 Route 209, Brodheadsville. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow the service in Mt. Eaton Cemetery, Saylorsburg.
