Obituary for William F Petkus

William F. Petkus, 87, of Brodheadsville, passed away on Saturday, July 1, 2023 at Lehigh Valley Hospital- Muhlenberg.

He was the loving husband of Shirley (Meixsell) Petkus with whom he shared 68 years of marriage.

Born in Palmerton, he was the son of the late William and Sophie (Kolek) Petkus.

William worked as an inventory control manager at Ingersoll Rand for over 20 years as well as a transportation director for the Pleasant Valley School District for 10 years. He loved to hunt and fish, and enjoyed boating. He was a member of the Indian Mountain Rod and Gun Club for 25 years and was very active at Zion United Lutheran Church where, for a few years, was their treasurer. Most of all, William loved his family and will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.

In addition to his wife, Shirley, William is survived by his sons: Randy Petkus and his wife, Cynthia of Westminster, MD; and Mark Petkus and his partner, Jane Snead of New Bern. NC; daughter: Cathie Mecham and her husband, Clive of Sandy, UT; brothers: Ronald Petkus of Parryville, PA; and Richard Petkus of Chambersburg, PA; sister: Carol George of Wind Gap; four grandchildren: Brandon, Kate, Scott and Kevin; and 2 great grandchildren. William was preceded in death by his parents.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, July 6, 2023 from 6:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M. at the Kresge Funeral Home, 1763 Rt. 209, Brodheadsville. There will be a viewing held on Friday, July 7, 2023 from 11:00 A.M.-12:00 P.M. at the Zion United Lutheran Church followed by a 12:00 P.M. service with Rev. Ann Melot officiating. Burial will continue at Gilbert Cemetery following the church service.
