Obituary for Cynthia J. Johnson (Hafemann)

Cynthia J. Johnson, 62, of Kunkletown, died Friday, July 25 in the Palmerton Hospital.

She was the wife of Thomas H. Johnson. They would have observed their 22nd wedding anniversary next month.

Born in Jersey City, NJ she was a daughter of William and Muriel M. (McBride) Hafemann of Emerson, NJ.

She received her BS in home economics from Montclair State University Montclair, NJ and was employed as a paraprofessional in the Pleasant Valley School District for twenty years, retiring in 2013.

She had been a member of Christ Episcopal Church in Stroudsburg.

In addition to her husband and parents, she is survived by a daughter, Larissa Naugle and her husband Chad of Breinigsville; a son, Nicholas Valentine and his wife Elizabeth of Port Allegany; a sister, Virginia Mohr of Vernon, NJ and three grandchildren, Connor William Valentine, Lillian Summer Valentine and Willow Grace Valentine.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM on Tuesday, July 29 from the McMichaels United Methodist Church with Rev. Edward Unangst officiating. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Effort. A viewing will be held on Monday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM from the Kresge Funeral Home, 1763 Route 209 Brodheadsville and on Tuesday from 11:00 AM until the time of the service in the church.
