Obituary for John David Neff

John David Neff, 84, of Dotters Corner, passed away Sunday, August 26 in his home surrounded by his family.

He was the loving husband of Shirley (Hook) Neff. They were married on September 13, 1957 and have celebrated 60 years of marriage together.

Born in Lampeter, PA, he was the son of the late J. Robert Neff and the late Elizabeth (Hostetter) Neff.

He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Effort.

John was a UPS delivery man for over twenty years. He was also heavily involved in his community throughout his life. He was a former Charter President for the Western Pocono Jaycees, and a former West End Chairman for the Monroe County Heart Fund. He also served in the West End Little League, West End Fire Co., and the local Y.M.C.A.

John was also the past President of the Monroe County Young Democratic Club, former Constable for Chestnuthill Township, and he also served for the Palmerton Borough Council and the Palmerton School Board.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a stepdaughter, Wanda Harrison and her husband Joseph of Dover, DE; a daughter, Beverly Christman and her husband Ike of Kresgeville; four sons, John Joseph Neff of Walnutport, Mark Neff and his companion Suzie Kresge of Kunkletown, David Neff and his wife Gayle of Kresgeville, Matthew Neff and his wife Fonn of New York; a sister, Betty Meck and her husband Melvin of Lancaster; six grandchildren, Joel, Tara, Jill, John Richard, Christopher, Erica; and three great grandchildren, Ella, Cody, and Michael. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Neff.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 31 at 11:30 AM from the Kresge Funeral Home, 1763 Route 209, Brodheadsville. A visitation will be held at 11:00 AM until the time of the service.
