Mark R. Chain, 49, of Gilbert, passed away on Saturday, April 25 in Pleasant Valley Manor, Snydersville, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Lehighton, he was a son of Charles "Chuck" and Karen "Kay" (Kreger) Chain of Gilbert.

Mark was a 1984 graduate of Pleasant Valley High School and a graduate of the Lackawanna Junior College Police Academy in Hazleton. He was the Police Chief in the Borough of Roseto for a few years and prior to that he had worked in several police departments in the Slate Belt area.

Mark was a member of Salem United Church of Christ in Gilbert. He enjoyed shooting at the firing range and working on cars. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steeler fan.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by a son, Ryan Chain of Gilbert; a sister, Robin McCloud and her husband Michael of Whitehall; a grandmother, Agnes Shafer of Palmerton; three nephews, Connor, Ean, and Michael McCloud and loving aunts, uncles and cousins.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, May 1 from Salem United Church of Christ with Rev. David Schnaars officiating. Private burial will be in Gilbert Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Saturday from 1:00 PM until the time of the service from the church.
