Biggy

Mr. Damiter was probably the reason I started to love history. He always had a way (and amazing sense of humor) to make learning fun and NEVER boring. There was never a dull moment in his class. He always assigned cool art-based projects (some of which I still have in my basement) and was always open minded. He used to call me "Biggy" because he was using me as a hypothetical example for a point he was trying to make in which I was playing an old lady and when he asked what I wanted my name to be I said Biggy because that is was I called my grandmother as a child. Well for the rest of the year he called me Biggy. One day I came into school under the weather and blue and he got the ENTIRE school to tell me "Biggy! Have a nice day!!" During lunch. I was not the attention seeking type so I was incredibly embarrassed, but a huge smile was glued to my face for the rest of the day! He could always make me smile and laugh, and always genuinely cared about my thoughts and feelings, as I'm sure he did with every student or colleague and I am so sad to hear of his passing. I am sure he will continue to find ways to make us all laugh, as he was never one to sit back and let a joke pass him by. He will be greatly missed; LVMS will have large shoes to fill as he was one of the greatest teachers they will ever know.
